What We Do
We build business websites that produce! And we extend your business effectiveness through Mobile Device technologies and creative, compelling design for the web, print and visualizations.
Building your first business website, or redesigning your existing website doesn't have to be a struggle. With a little up front planning and organization, you can enjoy the process and get real results from your investment in your website development. At Stratos, we have built hundreds of websites since 2001 and we want to share our experience and knowledge with you.
Is your business ready for a Mobile Website?
Before you answer, here are some facts you should know.
If you are a business manager you may be asking yourself "Where do I start?"
Here are number of strategies that we know will make your website project go more smoothly and will produce a better final product:
Step 1 - Create an outline for your new website
- Assign a key person within your organization to coordinate the site development with your web design firm.
- Determine the "pages' that you want included, such as Homepage, Products, About Us, etc.
- Decide if you wish to include a Content Management System (CMS) to allow you to update the website yourself or if you wish your website firm to update the site for you.
- List any other features to include such as videos, 3D images, flash animation banners or similar multimedia.
- Decide if you would like only a traditional website, or if you would like a site designed for mobile devices like smart phones included as well.
Step 2 - Gather and organize your photos, text content, and other resources needed
- Feel free to send your developer links to "sample sites". This will help them to understand your design preferences.
- Photos - This step may take more time than the others, but it will make a huge difference in the quality of your final site. Your web developer should setup an FTP folder for you on your website "server" that will allow you to send large files directly without sending them as email attachments (some photos are too large to be sent by email).
Step 3 - Site design review, programming and testing
- Review and approve your site design. When considering the graphic design aspects of your website, it is important to remember that your developer needs to design your website to work in many different browsers and for the different screen resolutions used by your site visitors. Remember that web design is not print design. It is also advisable to avoid design approval by committee, if possible.
- All features are tested in the popular browsers.
Step 4 - Launch!
- It is best to plan your launch day for a weekend, if possible. This allows plenty of time for your site to "propagate" (have your new web address become known all over the Internet).
- If you are changing your email to a new server as well, your developer should assist you in setting up your new email accounts and testing them.
- Don't forget to "Get the word out!" after your website is launched. Post your website address on your business cards and all marketing materials.
